232: Rearing animals to high welfare standards

Animal health and welfare is at top of agenda matter for livestock farmers and for all the right reasons. As the Brexit transition period closes at the end of 2020, Britain thereafter will be trading and operating differently than for the last few decades. Unions and others have been lobbying Government to prevent cheap and poorly produced food from flooding into the UK.

In this episode John Bates talks to Mandy Nevel, vet and Head of Animal Health & Welfare at AHDB, Amy Jackson, Communications Specialist at Responsible Use of Medicines in Agriculture (RUMA), and Georgina Crayford, Technical Manager for Pigs at Red Tractor, about animal health and welfare in the UK.
